The pythagoream theorem is similar to the distance formula in how the both come to the same answer. When doing the distance formula you are conpleting the equation x2-(x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2 all under a radical and the theorem is a^2+b^2=c^2. In the theorem if you are missing one part of the equation you can make up for it by use the remaining two parts. You can do a similar function for the distance formula.
